About incitee
incitee arranges the sale and transfer of scholarly journals. Since 2022, more than 1,000 journals have changed hands through us.
Nineteen years in publishing
The work is led by someone who has spent nineteen years in the publishing industry. That experience is behind every valuation we give and every buyer we vet.
How the work is done
Most of our work happens by message, by e-mail and in signed documents. Every sale follows the same sequence: an enquiry, an NDA signed online, an MOU or term sheet, due diligence on both sides, a transfer agreement, a managed handover and stewardship afterwards. Every handover follows NISO’s Transfer Code of Practice 5.0.
We act only for willing parties, we vet buyers before they see anything confidential, and we hold every sale to our ethics charter.
Why there are no names on this site
You will find no client list here, no logos and no testimonials. Owners who sell usually prefer that no one knows until the transfer is complete, and buyers have their own reasons for discretion. We keep that confidence for good: the only figure we publish about our work is the number of journals transferred.

A note on the type
This site is set in the Fell types: letters that John Fell, a seventeenth-century bishop, gathered and had cut for a university’s learned press, and left to that university in his will, asking that they be kept together. They were kept together, and in Igino Marini’s digital revival they are still in use. A fitting face, we think, for work that hands journals on intact.
The small labels are set in News Cycle, a revival of the newspaper grotesque News Gothic.
