A first look at a journal’s record

Type an ISSN. We read what OpenAlex and Crossref publicly record about the journal and set out what a buyer would look at. It is a first look: indicative, and not an appraisal.

Look up an ISSN

Free, and nothing about you is asked for.

Eight digits, like 0000-0000. A journal often has two (print and online); either will do.

Your browser does not contact OpenAlex or Crossref; our server does, and only the ISSN is sent. How the lookup is kept private.

What this page is, and is not

  • It is indicative. It is not an appraisal, and nothing here is certified.
  • It shows only what OpenAlex and Crossref record. Registries are incomplete and lag behind the journal itself, so a gap may be theirs, not the journal’s.
  • It says nothing about indexing in the large commercial citation indexes, which are not read here. Each index’s own site is the place to check.
  • It gives no score and no grade, and invents no figure. Where a registry is silent, the page says “not recorded”.
